Don’t gossip…

One of the things I have tried to do in all the companies I work for, is don’t talk about people not present. When I teached .NET I gave a lot of examples, sometimes examples of how things were done in a bad way at a previous client. When I gave these examples I made [...]

Bedankt !!
Ondertussen lukt het Bent aardig goed [...]

Funny Agile Survey

Over the last year Patrick and I have run into each other a lot. Both on and offline.
He asked me to fill in this nice Agile survey. As the results will be used in his session at Agile 2008, I will meet him again…
Not only is he a nice guy, the survey is made with [...]

Article about Bootcamp published in Business ICT…

After the article in Bizz magazine, Business ICT now published an article about BootCamp.
Dutch Version
French Version
Although BootCamp is something people should experience and not just talk about, I’m happy with how Davy explains in this article how to use the Core Protocols.
I am Yves Hanoulle, your virtual Project Coach and you can reach me [...]

National Holiday

Today it’s the Belgium National Holiday. The way the politicians behave together these days, makes me think about this nice U2 song.

Luckily the songs makes me think about other nice things as well…

Why is the Listen protocol better then the talking stick?

Yesterday I published the listen protocol. In my opinion a smarter way of solving a conflict then the Talking Stick I talked about a few months ago.
I got some question as why I found it smarter then the talking stick.
There is not much difference between both. One problem that people sometimes have with the talking [...]

The Smartest way to resolve a conflict: the Listen protocol (a better Indian talking stick)

Person A and Person B sit knees to knees in 2 chairs. (knees pointing toward each other)
Optionally, Person C (Coach/consultant) sits next to them and makes sure they follow the protocol.
1. Person A and Person B each state their alignments.
2. Person A begins saying what he wants to say to Person B in short chunks.
3. [...]

Who is using the seven habits in IT?

I am a fan of the Seven habits of effective people from Stephen R Covey for several years now. I’m using the habits in my work as an agile project coach.
I now have the possibility to be a FranklinCovey Trainer. Which I would love to do, but mainly in the IT sector. (As I think [...]

New pictures from ESSAP

Mateo has put his ESSAP pictures on flickr.
He has a few nice ones from me and Els working together.
We really enjoyed leading the PairCoaching.net leadership game together that we decided that we would do this again at Agile 2008.
I don’t have much possibilities to work with Els. So I’m very happy we do this together. [...]

Project management, lessons learned from failed Project "Form government for Belgium"

You won’t find a lot of politics on this blog. On the day that Yves Leterme failed after 1 year to create a plan for his government, I want to use that as an example to talk about Project management.
In every project we have 4 variables:
Resources: the people
Time: The deadline when you have to deliver [...]

the most important coaching skill

Today I listened again in my car to Dr Stephen R Covey 8the habit.
He made me think about an article I read a few weeks ago in a major business magazine. In that article a woman talked about coaching. Not your average coaching but coaching of high potentials and CEO’s. She said  among other things [...]

Geike: 9 months + 1 day: first visit to the sea…

Geike really enjoyed her first visit of the sea. She curiously played with the sand (with both hands and feet) without putting it in her mouth.
(When Joppe was a little older then she was, he ate earth and leaves…)
Geike has 2 teeth ready to come out.
And the boys? Look for yourself:

Paying by SMS…

This week I went to Gent with my two sons by bus. As I had little money on me as we left, I paid the bus by SMS for the first time.
When we came back My mobile phone ran out of power before we got home. So I was in doubt what would happen if [...]

Gestalt Training and BootCamp

BootCamp is not therapy and we don’t want it to be therapy. One of the reasons I follow GTO is to make sure I know the difference between Therapy and coaching very well. I see coaches going too far and have been tempted to do the same (Luckily I had my own personal mentor to [...]

More video’s from the Leadership Game in the European Summer School on Agile programming 2008

In the first video, you see the people checking out the Lego, when their bosses of the first exercise come in (32 seconds) and explain what needs to be done. In the first part, the two leaders are directive leaders. They take all the decisions in the game. The intention is that they have a [...]
